Parent Education

Watch the Parent Center VideoRegardless of income or background, parent involvement makes a difference in student success. Studies have shown that students with involved parents earn higher grades and test scores, enroll in higher-level programs, and pass their classes and are promoted over those without direct parent involvement. When parents are involved, students show higher attendance rates, better social skills and higher graduation rates with post-secondary education in their future. Rockwall ISD is committed to helping parents learn the skills and habits that result in greater student performance.

Rockwall schools exhibit great diversity in student body population. For example, families of Rockwall ISD students speak 47 languages other than English. For this reason, English proficiency both for students and for parents is key to success.

The Parent Education & Resource Center in Rockwall provides a centralized outreach location for family literacy services to empower parents of English language learners with skills and knowledge so that students can achieve academic success. The center features regular classes in English as a Second Language (ESL), parenting, discipline and study skills.
