What's happening in website development and internet technology? On this page, I'll highlight trends and patterns that strike me as relevant or interesting.  Plus, you can see my schedule of development and training.

I am Brad Tompkins, webmaster for Rockwall ISD.  Since the internet first was introduced to the world through higher education and research institutions, I have been actively involved in creating, delivering and mediating content for the web.  From my first days working with computer animation, multimedia and graphic design, my passion has always been about people and the passions they hold.

Technology alone is rarely interesting, but when it provides the vehicle to educate, inform, and entertain, my creative side comes out.  At Rockwall ISD, we are stretching and pushing in every way possible to make our message of caring for and educating students heard and seen.  I hope you enjoy the platforms we offer, and that you will take an active role in helping us move forward.  Use the contact form at the top of this page to drop me a message. I'd love to hear from you.

Thoughts and Trends

Increasingly our ability to manage presence to people and tasks is being assisted by the internet.

Get Remote Desktop Help

Need desktop support?  I can do a remote desktop session with you while we talk on the phone.  Just follow these steps to get CrossLoop installed (a lightweight remote desktop program for PC).  Then call me at a pre-arranged time and give me the access code.  Using this free program, you can share your desktop, and I can share mine.  It's like we're working on the same machine.

1. Go to Crossloop.com

2. On the home page, you will see this (or similar)

Find the link to free crossloop download:
3. Download and install it:

4. Accept all default settings, including unblocking Windows Firewall (if asked).  You will be asked for at least a user name and email address.  Don't worry, this is just a one-time setup. When you get the program running, call me with the access code on the "Share" tab.  After you have it installed, you can run it again anytime in the future; the access code may change from session to session.
